ART RESIDENCY BARCELONA PRINTMAKING STUDIO 

Apply to the residence program:

Grabart is a project born of the spirit of opening doors and bringing knowledge to artists who wish to explore new techniques.

- The selected artists will work at the Joan Barbarà workshop for a period from one week to 3 months.

Techniques that can be used:

We offer the support and advice provided by our master printer.


Direct techniques: Sharp or sharp tools are used, such as:

- Burin

- Drypoint and all its variants of engraving

- Mezzotint

- Carborundum

- Gravure

- Oil slick

Indirect techniques: Acids are used to create the plate as:

- Aquatint

- Sugar engraving

- Hard Varnish

- Photo-etching ( for photo-etching is not included in the price the: photolites, emulsion for the photography in the plate, plates of metratch, copper, zinc, semi-hard copper and aluminum )

- Painting

(Many of the techniques can be mixed)



Plates, paper, and most inks available in the workshop (sizes vary) 

(If the artist wants a plate of a certain size that is not available in the workshop, then have to purchase it)

(In the case the artist wants a special kind of paper it is not included in the price).

We also offer the option to purchase special papers.



Languages:

English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Hebrew and Catalan

Resident artists have access to the workshop from:

Monday to Thursday:

From 10am to 2pm and from 4pm to 8pm

Friday:

From 10am to 2pm 


Duration:

From one week to 3 months.


Prices:

Per day 65 € (4 hours)

Per week: 600 €

Per month: 1800 €

(Acommodation is not included,  we can help you to find place to rent during your desired period of residency)

We have a stock of printing paper that is available to purchase if you like.

Application guidelines:

1. Name, Surname and Place of Residence
2. Resume describing your academic, artistic, professional and other relevant experience.
3. One-page cover letter explaining why you are interested in this program and what you hope to achieve by attending it.
4. Artists must submit 5 samples of work, in case the artist have a website please also provide the link.
5. Desired period of residence.
6. Do you need accommodation in Barcelona?
